EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Add some glamour to your look, give the eyes an instant 'lift', and roll out of bed looking great! These semi-permanent eyelashes are placed individually on to your natural eyelashes to create fuller, longer, more glamorous looking lashes and eyes that look younger, larger and more refreshed. Eyelash extensions look and feel natural, are smudge-proof and waterproof, and allow your lashes to look their best at all times, without any mascara required.

At MISS FOX, it is out policy to ensure all lash extensions are styled to look beautifully natural on our clients. We are able to extend the lashes up to 2mm greater than your natural length and one level up in thickness, so that they are the safest for your natural lashes, hold well, look elegant, and look realistic. No spidery, wiry or drag-length lashes here, thank you!

The procedure requires delicate synthetic lashes, custom matched to your own natural curl and thickness, to be grafted on to each individual eyelash on a hair-by-hair basis. The size of your eyelid, you natural lash shape and condition of your lashes will determine, to some extent, how many lashes can be applied and the speed at which they can be applied. A full set of glamorous lashes takes about 1-2 hours to apply and is a relaxing process.

Lash extensions do require regular maintenance. Your natural lashes fall off every 60 days, thus touch ups or refills are required every 2 to 3 weeks in order to replenish the fallen lashes. Your aftercare will also affect how long your lashes last, and it is important to follow your therapists instructions, and especially to avoid the use of traditional mascara which will dissolve the lash adhesive. Refills take approximately 30-45 minutes to apply and are generally priced according to the length of time since your last service.

PLEASE NOTE:
In comparing salons, remember to ask how many lashes per eye you should expect to get with a full set (some lash technicians who offer full sets only apply 30 lashes per eye - we offer up to 80 in a full set). Please also remove all eye makeup prior to the appointment so that we can spend more time applying your lashes (rather than cleaning them). An eyelash tint will be required for fair lashes as the natural lashes will still be visible post-extensions. Please tint the lashes at least 24 hours prior to avoid interaction with the lash extension product/adhesive. If you have any special requirements please contact us in advance so that we may consult with you before your lash appointment, order or arrange specific products or tools for your appointment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT LASH PERFECT LASH EXTENSIONS

Q: Are lash extensions like strip or cluster lashes?
A: No, lash extensions are quite different to those which you might have applied by a makeup artist or that you can purchase for home use - these lashes temporarily attach to your eyelid with latex-type glues. Lash extensions are a professional-only product that look just like an individual eyelash, carefully applied using permanent adhesive one by one onto the natural lash line (not the skin).

Q: Are Lash Perfect extensions safe?
A: Yes – they are extremely safe when application is undertaken by a trained professional. The bonding agent is extremely strong and should not touch the skin. Therapists are trained in the correct technique needed to apply the lashes safely and without irritation to the eye or skin. The surrounding eye area is secured and well protected with soft adhesive pads or tape. The eyes are closed throughout the whole procedure and you will be laying down comfortably, making the treatment relaxing and enjoyable - you might even fall asleep during it.

Q: How are the eyelash extensions applied?
A: A single natural eyelash is isolated using specially designed tweezers, and a synthetic lash is glued to the top of your own natural eyelash, approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the glue or the lash has contact with the skin. Lash extensions applied too close or touching the skin are an irritant and represent incorrect application.

Q: Should I be careful who applies the eyelash extensions, and should they be trained?
A: Yes, absolutely. We can not stress enough the importance of a skilled and professional application of lash extensions. Self-taught and unqualified operators, often using poor quality products purchased from Ebay, are not people you want using tweezers and glue near your precious eyes! Please do your research and only visit salons that use a professional system with qualified technicians. All staff at MISS FOX are qualified beauty therapists with accredited Lash Perfect training and oodles of experience.

Q: A friend of mine had lash extensions at a proper establishment, but they look awful! I am scared of looking like a drag queen!
A: There is an artistic element to lash extensions and both good taste and good skills are required for an aesthetically pleasing outcome. Lash extensions that are too long, too thick, too straight or too curled can give a fake, 'spidery', or droopy look that will draw attention for all the wrong reasons. In addition, the length of lashes should be tapered (shorter at the inner eye, longer at the centre etc) for a natural look, and adjusted for certain eye shapes (lash formation to enhance almond eyes can be different than the formation suitable for large round eyes or hooded eyes). Our style at MISS FOX is a clean, lush look, that lifts and opens the eye, matches the natural lash thickness, and is elegant in length.

Q: Will lash extensions make my eye lashes fall out?
A: No, definitely not when applied correctly. It is important to have your lash extensions applied by a qualified operator who uses a quality product. Lash extensions at MISS FOX are light and put the same pressure on the lash as wearing mascara. You must avoid pulling on the lash extensions. The eyelashes have a cycle and lashes are constantly being replaced, just like your hair. If you pull so hard on an extension lash and pull out your own natural lash, there will be no new lash ready to grow to take its place, and you would need to wait 6-8 weeks for the lash to grow back. Please always treat your lashes with care.

Q: Can I be allergic to the lash adhesive or remover?
The lash glue and remover have a very low incidence of allergic reaction as they do not technically touch the skin. Whilst we take great care to ensure that the adhesive and adhesive remover do not come in contact with the skin or eyes, in some individuals who are particularly sensitive they may find that the fumes or microscopic residues of the adhesive or removal products still irritate eyes or the surrounding area. In these cases the lashes should be removed immediately for safety. The smell of the glue can be slightly irritating to very sensitive noses or eyes - we do offer a low-odour glue option, please ask your technician if you think this is more suitable for you (please note that the low odour glues will slow the application process and have a slightly weaker bond).

Q: Is there any reason why I can't have eyelash extensions applied? Are there any contra-indications?
A: Lash extensions may not suit you if:
  • You often rub your eyes due to allergies such as hayfever, or out of habit (this will cause lashes to fall off or twist)
  • In the past you have experienced sensitivity around the eye area after using skin care or makeup, or you generally have sensitivity around the eye area (you may be sensitive to the application process or cause stress to an already sensitive area)
  • You use prescribed medicated eye drops or ointment (this may coat the lashes and cause them to clump)
  • You have very curly eyelashes (it will be difficult to glue an extension on)
  • You don't want to change your current makeup or cleansing routine (without the correct homecare lashes will not last)
  • You live or work in an environment that exposes you to a lot of heat or oil (eg. kitchens with fryers, or work that requires heavy creams or makeup on the face that can travel to the lash area)
  • You have naturally oily lashes or eyelids (excessive natural oils can weaken the adhesive bond)
However, if you are unsure please contact MISS FOX to discuss.

Q: Can I wear Makeup and Mascara on Lash Perfect lashes?
A: Yes – but most clients find that mascara is no longer required once they start wearing lash extensions, and often eyeliner can be skipped as well. Generally, waterproof mascara, oil-based mascaras and eyeliners, and some cleansers will weaken the bond of the lash extensions. If you choose to wear mascara we recommend using oil-free and water washable Lash Perfect Mascara, specifically formulated for use with Lash Perfect extensions (you can wear this liberally on your lower lashes, but only apply to the tips of the upper lashes, not the base). We recommend Lash Perfect's gentle eye make-up remover and/or remover towel for makeup removal. Always remove eye shadow in a side and upward movement, not down onto the eyelash extensions. Wiping down towards the lashes will cause a build up of makeup on the lashes and may lessen the life of them.

Q: Can I use Eyelash Curlers?
A: No, eyelash curlers should not be used as heat and clamping will disturb the adhesive. Generally, lash curling is not necessary as the gentle curl of the Lash Perfect lash gives the effect of them being curled.

Q: Should I have my eyelashes tinted before having Lash Perfect applied?
A: It is not necessary to tint the lashes before application unless natural lashes are extremely light. Lash tinting or perming can be done before application, at least 24 hours prior and preferably longer to give the lashes some rest. Lashes cannot be tinted or permed after application.

Q: Can I apply eyelash extensions if my eyelashes are permed or very curled?
A: It is generally easier to apply extensions on lashes that are straight or slightly curled up. If a natural lash has too much curl it can be very difficult to get the extension to adhere correctly to the curled lash.

Q: Do you supply a good selection of lash lengths and thicknesses?
A: Yes – as certified Lash Perfect professionals we can offer clients a tailor made image, using a comprehensive range of lashes. Available in 1mm increments from 8mm up to 13mm lengths, and in 3 thicknesses: fine, thick and extra thick. This will enable us to create the right image for each individual customer according to lifestyle and preference.

Q: Tell me about coloured lashes?
A: Lashes are available in a variety of colours, including blue, green, violet, wine and brown, these lashes can be used as a total image change or mixed in with black lashes to give a subtle tone - this is often referred to as 'lash balayage'. We can order colours in time for your treatment if you contact us a week prior.

Q: After care for Lash Perfect – what is required?
A: Lash Perfect lashes need care to protect your investment. It is necessary to avoid or modify some products and processes as they will loosen the adhesive bond of the extension, spoil the effect and/or shorten the life of your lashes.
  • For the first 24 hours avoid getting the lashes wet to allow the glue to completely dry.
  • Do not use a steam room or sauna for the first 48 hours to allow glue to cure.
  • Be gentle and respect your new lashes. Avoid rubbing your eyes and do not pick and play with your lashes.
  • Resist the temptation to touch or pull at your new lashes as this may pull out your own natural lashes.
  • Avoid getting lashes caught on clothes and towels.
  • When drying your face do not "rub" it, instead blot your face and apply a gently pressure to your closed eyes then allow the extensions to dry naturally. Don't try to dry them with a towel or hair dryer.
  • Do not perm, tint or curl the extensions using a clamp or heated eyelash curler.
  • Avoid wearing mascara as this will lessen the life of your extensions. Even Lash Perfect mascara is better left for special occasions.
  • Do not use eye make-up remover that contains any type of oil product, such as petroleum.
  • Avoid oily or waterproof eye liner pencils or eye makeup. We recommend liquid liners over oily/waxy pencils.
  • Do keep the eye area clean. This is very important. Some ladies love their lashes so much they don't even want to get them wet at all. Avoiding proper hygiene can result in an eye infection whether wearing eyelash extensions or not.
  • Try and sleep on your back to avoid crushing your extensions in the pillow.
The golden rule for wearing eyelash extensions is the less you touch them the longer they will last. However, it is important to keep the eye area clean.

Q: Can I wear contact lenses?
A: We recommend contact lenses are removed during the application procedure as a general precaution. There is no reason why contact lenses cannot be worn directly after application and throughout the life of your Lash Perfect.

Q: Can extensions be applied onto the eyelid in the absence of a natural lash?
A: No. As the correct application of Lash Perfect involves placing a single lash extension to a single natural eyelash without touching skin, you cannot apply Lash Perfect extensions if there is no eyelash. Other products and techniques are available to help meet your concerns, please contact our team.

Q: How long do Lash Extensions last?
A: A full set of Lash Perfect lashes should last untouched for up to 4 weeks. However, most people are so delighted with their lashes they want to keep them longer and therefore we recommend a top up appointment every two to three weeks to keep them looking pristine. For clients who wish to wear lashes on a long term basis we recommend removal and a fresh set every 3 months.

Q: Can the lashes be removed easily?
A: The lashes are applied in view of them staying on for up to 4 weeks, therefore the removal process, whilst easy for a professional, should not be undertaken by a client. There is a special professional remover that is a salon only product, and used correctly will remove lashes with ease and without damaging the natural lash.

Q: How can I be sure of the quality of Lash Perfect products?
A: Lash Perfect products are currently being used throughout the UK, Europe and Australia. Quality can be assured at all times.

www.ELLE.com
Eyelash extensions by Lash Perfect are available in many high end hair and beauty salons up and down the country. They are one of the most expensive lash extension treatments available, but their extensive knowledge and well trained staff are what you are paying for.
On arrival, a thorough consultation should determine the effect you want to create, then the treatment begins with a relaxing and nourishing eye-area massage after which your eyelids will be secured shut with tape – not as uncomfortable as it sounds. It can be unnerving at first, but within ten minutes you’ll feel completely relaxed, you might even be lucky enough to fall asleep. Next, each of your own lashes is extended individually - this is a lengthy and diligent process which will take approximately 90 minutes for a full set of natural lashes to be applied. With Lash Perfect lashes, and indeed with all eyelash extensions it’s important not to use any oil based products on eyes or face as this breaks down adhesive and will cause your new lashes to fall out. Lash Perfect recommend purchasing their own oil-free eye make-up remover and mascara - which is not waterproof but long lasting and effective. There are also plenty of other oil-free products on the market by brands like YSL for example. Don’t be alarmed if after a few days a couple of stray lashes fall out, this is normal and the bulk of the lashes will last much longer, remaining lush and natural for up to four weeks later.
